The Secret Mission

Hi Again. This is Keewee and yes it has been a long time but I can tell you now that I have been on a secret mission for a special Irish Princess and a New Zealand Prince.

This is how it began.

Before we all left New Zealand we were contacted by a special Lady who had a small problem. Her son, a fine New Zealand lad, (we shall call him a Prince) had left New Zealand and travelled to Ireland where he met a beautiful princess and of course as we all know Princess's cannot help but fall in love with good looking New Zealand Princes.

In Ireland they both worked hard on their remote mountain farm and they lived in a 300 year old house which was their castle. The Prince longed to be able to ask the Princess to marry him but no matter how hard he looked he could not find a ring that was beautiful enough to compare with his Princess.

The poor prince was sad as he did not know how he could ever marry his princess. Back in New Zealand however his Mother heard of his troubles and his whanau had a korero. A Kuia spoke and her words were listened too. “Take this ring” she said. “It was given to me by the Prince's Grandfather when he asked me to marry him. This Taonga will be my gift to him so he may marry his Princess!”

“But how shall we get this ring to our Tane", the family wondered. At long last someone said” Maybe we should ask Keewee for he is wise and knows many people and the ring is far too beautiful to travel alone in the post. It must go with someone who will keep it warm and take care of it until it reaches the Prince!”

And this is how I was able to help another Kiwi in a far off land. I talked with Davina (who as you all know is Martin, Dallas and Chance's Mum) and she said she would look after the ring. She placed it on her finger where she could keep it safe and there it stayed.

And so on Monday the 30th of May we packed our bags again and set off for the remote farm in the mountains near Sligo.

We traveled out of Dublin onto newly built motorways. On the way we had to stop briefly to pay toll fares as these are used to repay the cost of building the road.

Leaving the motorway we traveled through towns and villages, along roads, down lanes and up a mountain road. As we approached the area near the address Davina took the ring from her finger and placed it in its special velvet ring box.

At long last we found the home of the Prince. It was guarded by two ferocious dogs that protected the home from the upstairs windows. They watch for foxes, who would steal chickens, Pine Martens (a bit like a big possum) and Badgers.

It was lucky that our Martin did not have a bushy tail!

The prince was overjoyed to see us and we were able to sit down in his whare and have a cuppa tea. Davina handed the velvet covered box to the Prince. He opened it and was overjoyed to see the Ring.

At long last he could ask his Princess to marry him. We don't know when that will happen as he now has to find a very special moment to honour the preciousness of the ring and its journey from his whanau.

Thank goodness the Prince's home was guarded by dogs and not Fire Breathing Dragons.
I see the Special Lady (the Princes's mother) sometimes, so I will tell her how sucessfull the brave knight - "Sir" Keewee - was in his quest.
