The Trip Is Over

Hi,
We had a 6 1/2 hour flight from London to Dubai, a 1 hour stop over and then another 8 hour flight to Brunei where we stopped off for a break. After staying 1 night we left for the final flight of 9 hours to get back to New Zealand. This flight was actually about 1/2 hour longer as the plane had to descend and fly beneath the asj cloud that has threatened the airspace over New Zealand and Australia recently. We arrived home without futher incident and the next big adventure is ... Unpacking!

To everone who has followed this story I wish you well. Keewee has enjoyed relaying his adventure to you. He is now looking forward to a nice long rest on a shelf as he watches over the family.

Ka Kite, farewell, Until next time!

From Gems to Dinosaurs and other scary things

Today is Saturday and I have decided that the kids need to see some history of the world. So, we are off to see the Natural History Museum in London. We will be there with a friend we met in New Zealand who lives in the London area. It looks to be a good day. Off we go for a walk until we find the correct bus. In London you travel most places by knowing the numbers of the buses that take you there. So a Londoner may give you directions saying to take the 205 to Kings Cross then the Number 10 to the Museum. When you get to the bus stop it is important to watch for the number on the front of the bus and wave the driver in as he approaches. If you don't he will drive straight past as they do not stop at every bus stop unless they have to. The museum was not far from the Princess Dianna Memorial that was themed on the Peter Pan Story. A short walk from the bus stop was the Museum. This is what we came to see.

We start our discovery

Martin finds a large globe of the world and shows where New Zealand is located
Dallas finds a huge Gem

This is scary stuff as there were dead birds here. Have you ever heard someone say 'As dead as a Dodo?'. Well this is a Dodo Bird. I sure hope that we Save the Kiwi's in New Zealand because I do not want to be stuffed like this chap!

Creatures like this used to swim in the sea when dinosaurs walked the land. I think I would rather catch a snapper!

Wow. This dinosaur skeleton just went forever

Dallas found a giant Tree Sloth Skeleton

I thought I would find a quiet dark place to take a rest. All those extinct birds were quite a worry. Its good that this place is safe for Kiwi's.

What the heck is that noise behind me? I think I had better move on. This is getting scary1

Whew, I'll just wait by this tree. Pardon?, You see a what?

Oh my gosh, I've got to run. That fella looks real mean ... and hungry. I.m getting out of these caves!

In the hall the kids have found information on bugs and beetles

This bug lives on your eyelashes. I hope we all washed our faces this morning!

Some crabs are huge

Chance examines some animals

I don't think this chap has had anything to eat for a very long time!

Dallas, Look behind you!

What do you mean that you can't see a lion? Look behind you!

If elephants are big then look at the blue whale behind him!

I'll just wait here on this ledge until the kids catch up. There's a what?

OK so I'll sit her instead. I really am quite tired from all this walking. What do mean, another dragon?

I checked this one. A Tuatara from New Zealand. I feel quite at home as I rest here.

Time to head for the exit now

We say goodbye to our London friend. It is time we head back to the Apartment. Tomorrow we pack our bags and prepare for our trip back home.

An outing to the RAF Museum

On Saturday we walked to the bus stop and caught a bus to the train station. We were going to see the RAF Museum where a large number of aircraft were on display. This was going to be another exciting day! Ooops wrong train station so we walked out and across to the proper station where we caught a train to a station halfway to the museum. There we changed trains and traveled to Mill Hill where we left the train. It was getting near lunchtime so we all went to some shops and picked up sandwiches to eat at the museum. Heading to the bus stop we all climbed aboard a bus (nearly took the wrong one) and began the last leg of the journey. The bus stopped outside the Museum and some splendid planes were already visible.

As we walked toward the entrance we were met by many people traveling the other way. This was curious as they all seemed to be leaving the Museum. A security guard at the gate turned us away advising that due to security reasons the Museum was being shut and all visitors and staff were being advised to leave the premises.

So we went to a nearby park where we had a picnic

and watched the local birdlife
When we were ready we went by bus and train and train and bus back to London to rest after our exciting day at the RAF Museum!

LEGOLAND

On Friday  (17th June) we went to Legoland.
I am not going to say much here as Legoland is so amazing that the pictures can speak for themselves. Remember it is ALL made of Lego (except for the land, rides and real people). Millions upon Millions of Lego Bricks!

The castle shown is not made of Lego but is adorned with Lego decorations

Mmmm. One of these is real

Holland comes under attack by a giant duck!

The largest model in the world is this front end of an airliner. You can walk into it and the controls are all inside!
